When
asked why he made the gesture in the
direction of the fan, Akers replied,
“No one else said a word.
I was expecting silence, and I hear
someone scream ‘God Bless You.
As far as I’m concerned, that
fucker got what he deserved.”
Philadelphia Mayor, John Street commented,
“It is a sad situation when someone
dies, especially at a sporting event.
However we are unsure if we can press
charges against the fans because no
one really knows who was involved.
Although we have Mr. Akers in custody
we can’t charge him, because he
didn’t do anything wrong. This
is something we’ve all come to
terms with in Philly. It happens.
Eagles fans are crazy and death is a
natural thing."
Brian Jordan was of course unavailable
for comment.
