I've
been trying to settle on a December
holiday to celebrate seeing that I think
Christmas is a corporate made monster
and there in nothing about it that shows
me any kind of love or peace for all
of man kind.
Then I tried celebrating Chanuka, that
was fun for a while but I couldn't stand
being around all those rich snobby Jews
all the time. Plus, I only liked it
for the presents for 8 straight nights.
Finally I've came across Kwanzaa.
Kwanzaa is, an African American and
Pan-African holiday celebrated by millions
throughout the world African community,
Kwanzaa brings a cultural message which
speaks to the best of what it means
to be African and human in the fullest
sense. Given the profound significance
Kwanzaa has for African Americans and
indeed, the world African community,
it is imperative that an authoritative
source and site be made available to
give an accurate and expansive account
of its origins, concepts, values, symbols
and practice.
Plus it has 7 days of presents.
Now I have to be honest, I am not African
American or Pan African, I don't even
know what the hell Pan African is.
However just because I am white doesn't
mean I can't celebrate Kwanzaa with
my black brothers. By me not being able
to celebrate goes against everything
Kwanzaa stands for.
As the old Kwanzaa saying goes, "We're
all pink on the inside."
Basically I'll stick with Kwanzaa for
a while. I am however still looking
into starting my own church of the Festivus.
That would be interesting.
