Drexel
Meethoule-Twad, Struller's lawyer elaborated
on the legal merits of the case at a
press meeting Tuesday, “In Nevada,
this constitutes malpractice the same
way a botched surgery does: A professional
recommends a painful, often humiliating
procedure that will make the 'patients'
life easier or more fulfilling, and
after the procedure is complete, the
results are just not there.” He
then held up a picture of the post-Queer
Eye Struller. “My client is more
miserable and unfuckable now than he
ever has been. The damage to his reputation
is so profound that he may have to move
to another city to regain his dignity:
This is NOT what Mr. Struller signed
up for.”
The lawsuit asks for $25,000 in damages
and $200,000 for pain and suffering.
Struller, a masonry contractor and single
father, said the suit is only fair.
“I don't want to get rich off
this, I just want to buy back my El
Camino, get some real clothes, some
functional furniture, and be able to
move away from Reno....My life here
is over thanks to Queer Eye. I think
it is fair to make them pay for me and
my kids to start over elsewhere.”
Representitives of Bravo and Queer Eye
declined any further comment than the
following short statement: “This
suit is ridiculous. We will fight it
tooth and nail. If Mr. Struller can't
handle his new fabulous look, that's
his problem, honey.”
The case will hit the courts sometime
next month.
